Gestalt Psychotherapy

Welcome to my website.  I am a professionally trained, qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. My practice is based in central Brighton and Horsham. With easy access by either car, bus or train.

I currently offer an initial assessment so that we can meet to talk about your situation and discuss what would be of most benefit to you now. This would also give us both the opportunity to see if we can work together. I can also make suggestions and referrals for other therapies if this would be in your best interest.

I offer psychotherapy and counselling for a wide range of issues. This can be short term, if there is a specific area that you want to explore, or longer term if you want to take a deeper exploration of what is troubling you.

I have experience of working with the following issues:

  • Are you feeling alone or isolated? Do you find it difficult to form close relationships, find yourself on the outside, rather than feeling connected to others?
  • Are you having difficulties in a relationship? 
  • Have you recently lost someone through a bereavement, or struggling to come to terms with the feelings of grief and loss?
  • Do you suffer with anxiety, experience panic attacks and often feel fearful?
  • Have you experienced some kind of childhood abuse either sexual, emotional or physical and want to make sense of the impact this has had on your life?
  • Do you use alcohol or other substances and would like to find other ways of coping?
  • Do you suffer with low self esteem, experience critical thoughts that can often hold you back or prevent you from moving forward?
  • Do you feel overwhelmed at times? Finding it difficult to manage difficult feelings leaving you feeling depressed or suicidal?
  • Have you received a clinical diagnosis and need therapeutic support to understand the emotional aspect of your illness?
  • Have you experienced a trauma of some kind and are suffering with symptoms of post traumatic stress?
  • Perhaps you have lost your meaning in life, suffering with depression and finding it difficult to face life?
  • Do you experience feeling shame and despair and find it difficult to manage overwhelming feelings?

I integrate and draw from several approaches, mainly Psychodynamic and Gestalt theories incorporating a variety of different techniques which include body work, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. My approach is holistic: I believe we need different things at different times and work creatively to best support your individual needs.

First Step

The first step is to make an appointment for an initial meeting. This is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to counselling. I can talk with you about ways in which I work and it will give you the opportunity to ask any questions. It will also be an opportunity to evaluate if I am someone who you feel you can work with.
